HI, I’M ALEX
Hello, my name is
Alexandra (Alex) Garza
I became a therapist with a simple goal—to help others heal and grow.
Over time, my personal experiences with family, health challenges, and change have deepened that purpose, shaping how I understand people, pain, and resilience. I’ve seen firsthand how families can reconnect and thrive even after hardship, and it’s that resilience that continues to inspire my work in family therapy.
I know what it’s like to feel stuck in relationships or caught in repeating patterns. Doing my own family-of-origin work has strengthened my empathy and taught me that real healing starts with awareness and ownership. This belief guides my approach with every client—individuals, couples, and families navigating everything from anxiety and depression to chronic illness, eating disorders, and relationship challenges.
I earned both my undergraduate and master’s degrees in Psychology and Marriage & Family Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. My clinical experience includes hospital and residential settings supporting children, adolescents, and families facing eating disorders and complex health issues, as well as medical family therapy work with brain-injured patients and their caregivers. These experiences continue to inform my compassionate, collaborative style of care.
In sessions, I draw from Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, integrating the mind, body, and spirit in the healing process. I also hold advanced training in Emotion Focused Family Therapy through the International Centre for Excellence in Emotion Focused Therapy. Whether we incorporate faith, spirituality, or cultural practices, my goal is to create a safe space for connection, growth, and meaningful change.
Therapy isn’t just about validation—it’s about transformation. I’ll walk with you through the hard questions, helping you align your choices with your values and rediscover your healthiest, most authentic self.
